EMCCD技术具有大像素、高量子效率以及几乎为零的读出噪声,在低光量条件下具有良好表现。多低的光呢?如果样品和背景之间每个像素 只能得到不超过10个光子,那么EMCCD会非常适合,比任何其他相机技术的信噪比都要好。对于生物相关的应用,程序曝光时间为10ms到30ms ,那么样品在每个像素上可以发射几百到几千的光子。但是如果要求速度更快,曝光时间更短,每像素一次照射只能采集少于10个光子,这种 情况即是超低光领域的应用。实现了超快曝光成像,其灵敏度可以在缺少光子的环境中提供令人视觉满意的在数量上有意义的图像。
